Optimizing Resource Efficiency

only use what is needed, not more

We constantly optimize the efficiency of the processes along our value chain to conserve resources – water, energy and raw materials – while minimizing consumption and waste.

reducing waste with our on-demand business model

Our on-demand production model lets us make only what customers want, when they want it. At the same time, we make all items affordable and accessible online. For each item, we create a small initial batch of only 100 to 200 pieces and respond directly to customer demand to determine future production. This allows us to consistently achieve average unsold inventory in the low single digits, which means less resource waste right from the beginning.

Since the start of our Digital Transfer Printing initiative in December 2018, SHEIN has converted over 50% of its directly sourced prints to digital thermal transfer printing. This technique perfectly fits SHEIN’s small-batch production process, cutting down on inventory waste and conserving resources from the start. A voluntary audit conducted by Bureau Veritas (BV) confirmed it’s a zero-water waste printing process. And its Oeko-tex certified inks are free from hazardous substances.
